The recent Covid pandemic disrupted the activities of the fellowship in 2020, as we were unable to make any awards, but we are pleased to say that we were able to support three students with their placements in 2021. Two took place in the UK and one student went abroad, we are looking forward to hearing about their experiences when they present their reports in the Autumn.
We celebrated our twentieth Anniversary in June with an on-line presentation reflecting the work of the fellowship over the last twenty years. Following a presentation from our founder, David Garnett, a short film was shown featuring past scholars reflecting on how undertaking an internship abroad help them develop their future career paths. It is with sadness that I have to report that one of our founder Patrons passed away earlier this year following a short illness, Dick Reid OBE, was a talented sculpture and carver, who also encouraged Zibby Garnett in her early conservation career, his advice and support will be greatly missed. There has also been some changes to the board of Trustees, Anna Joynt has left to take up the position of President of the Ecclesiastical Architects and Surveyors Association, but we welcome Dr Christos Karydis as a trustee, Christos is a past ZGTF scholar and is presently assistant professor at the Ionian University, Division of Conservation of Antiquities & Works
