The origins of ZGTFZGTF was founded in memory of Zibby Garnett who administered the Historic Decorative Crafts course at the Lincolnshire College of Art and Design (which later became part of Lincoln University) until her early death in 1999. ZGTF was launched the following year. In addition to her many roles within the University, Zibby Garnett, on her own initiative, forged links with Sintra College of Art in Portugal and arranged for parties of Lincoln students to make exchange study visits with Sintra students. Further exchanges were established with Sint Lucas College at Boxtel in Holland and there is little doubt that others would have followed.
