About ZGTF

ZGTF is a charity whose purpose is to give financial help to individual students who want to travel to countries outside the United Kingdom, to widen their knowledge and to study subjects of particular interest to them, in one of the following fields:

     -  Historic buildings
     -  Historic landscapes and gardens
     -  Artefacts
     -  Historic decorative crafts

The grants are intended for practical study and conservation work.

The origins of ZGTF

ZGTF was founded in memory of Zibby Garnett who administered the Historic Decorative Crafts course at the Lincolnshire College of Art and Design (which later became part of Lincoln University) until her early death in 1999.  ZGTF was launched the following year.

In addition to her many roles within the University, Zibby Garnett, on her own initiative, forged links with Sintra College of Art in Portugal and arranged for parties of Lincoln students to make exchange study visits with Sintra students.  Further exchanges were established with Sint Lucas College at Boxtel in Holland and there is little doubt that others would have followed.

In her memory, a room in Lincoln University Library is named ’The Zibby Garnett Library’ and houses the bound reports of the Zibby Garnett Scholars’ study placements, as well as the rarer books owned by the University.

The study subjects sponsored by ZGTF reflect Zibby Garnett’s own interests and work.
